2012 PPWV Artist Of The Year

"A Drop Of Color In A Blue, Blue World" by Clayton Spangler

I’m a little bit late with this – but to be honest; I’ve been a little  busy and am just now getting  to share the good news! LOL

On February 11th, 2012- I was named PPWV’s (Professional Photographers Of West Virginia) 2012 Artist Of The Year- which is totally awsome!

I am very proud of the fact that I am now at a point in my career that I can take stuff floating around in my head,  create a “concept” and final image from it!
Photography is about capturing moments- Digital artistry is about creating moments  from images fleeting  past or from things that arent even possible in the “real world” and making them the visual reality.

The image above “A Drop of Color in a Blue ,Blue World” came to me as I woke up from a dream about paint drops becoming fish in a body of water- the hardest part was creating the illusion of the water’s surface – everything else was a bit more straight forward for me…if you can call it that….as I have digitally painted the image….LOL

This recognition and award means a lot to me as it comes from my peers and a non partial panel of judges who scored my image the highest of all in the artist category of the PPWV  image competition.

Thank you all very much- and just wait til you see what I plan on coming up with next!
