I’ve just placed my initial order with the publisher for NEW2010 WEST VIRGINIA COLLECTION Calendars!!!! These will be available for sale on the website – www.claytonspangler.com – very soon- And the 2010 NEW CHARLESTON COLLECTION Calendars are almost complete as well…..so stay tuned for updates on their release and arrival!
(The images inside the calendar are of my digital photgraphic paintings of West Virginia and will be available for sale as well! )
I recently did an interview with the Charleston Daily Mail newspaper here in my home town.
They wrote a feature on my “Charleston Collection” exhibit I have hanging at the Robert C. Byrd Federal Courthouse ( until the end of August)
These are all 20×30 Canvas Gallery Wrap “Digital Paintings” that I have been working on over the past year-
It’s been almost a year in coming, but my first public showing of new “Charleston Collection” is about to go on exhibit!!
18- 20×30 Canvas Gallery Wrapped pieces of my artwork will be hanging at the Robert C. Byrd Federal Courthouse in Charleston West Virginia from July thru August.
The show is open to the public, keeping in mind it is a federal courthouse, so you will have to pass thru a security checkpoint to gain access thru the main doors.
If you can, I’d love for you to go and take a look- better yet, visit my online store and pick up some art for your home or office!
What is a gallery wrapped canvas?
It is a high quality print on artist canvas.
The canvas is stretched over custom made wood supports.
Its depth is 1.5″
What’s so cool about gallery-wrapped canvases?
These images stand out boldly without the distraction of a frame
They appear to “float” on your wall.
You don’t need a frame for stability; the structure is inside the art.
Got an email from Kara- she works over at Peach Pit Press, and she wanted me to let you know of a interview Joe McNally gave- so I thought I’d share….
Clayton
I work for Peachpit Press I wanted to let you know that Joe was interviewed by our Publisher in a recent podcast. He shares some more anecdotes about flash photography and what inspired him to write ‘The Hot Shoe Diaries.’ I thought it would be of interest to your readers.

I hope everyone had a great New Years with family and friends- I know I did!
Each year I reflect back on the previous one and think about what I could do better, any changes I could’ve made, did I reach my goals, etc.. and for the most part- even with the economy downturn- I had a good year; not a great one ,but good. ( FYI:Sucess isn’t always about money either)
One of the things I gave a lot of thought about business wise was contracting a third party to design me a new website. I’m happy to say that the website is almost complete and will be in addition to my www.claytonspangler.com website. The difference will be that I now have another domain being set up called spanglerstudio.com- this will focus more on my professional and commercial work, whereas claytonspangler.com will be reserved for online shopping and creative/artistic endeavors.
The reason for having two websites is that I am growing as an artist as well as a photographer- but I have to market to different segments to be sucessful in either one. I hope I’ve done this in such a way that will make sense and enhance your interactive experience with me online.( The blog, by the way, will remain the same- I’m liking the power of wordpress)
In many ways- it’s like having twins- they are still your kids, but they often have two distinct personalities! LOL
I’ll update everyone here when it comes online……..
I’m getting ready add a new Photography Workshop to my schedule for 2009! I can’t go into too much detail as paperwork and contracts are involved; but I am 3/4 way there! It’s going to happen- and I’m excited!
This is going to be really cool as it will be hands on and plenty of shooting opportunities-but different than any other workshop I’ve been able to do before! There will be some lecture time at a great venue as well, but the emphesis will be on shooting! Of course, there will only be so many spots available- but you will hear about it all first here!!!
I’ll be sure and post ALL THE DETAILS as soon as they are ready for release- Get ready for a unique opportunity……
I did an interview a few days ago for my new “Charleston Collection” of fine art prints showing city landmarks and streetscapes.
Here is the link to the story: Charleston Daily Mail Article
Like most people from around the area- Charleston is home- even if you’ve moved far away. I hope I’ve done it( the city ) justice!
