The “Voice Within”

Posted by photographicdesign on July 31, 2009

Trees Kan Falls

Ever see images in your head that don’t exist in the “real world”?  This started out as a lush Green overcast color photo that I thought had potential; but just didn’t “speak” to me….
so, I worked on it some and found the “voice within” and created this one!

NEW Charleston Collection Exhibit!

NEW ARTWORK FOR  © The Charleston Collection

NEW ART-NEW EXHIBIT

It’s been almost a year in coming, but my first public showing of new “Charleston Collection” is about to go on exhibit!!

18- 20×30 Canvas Gallery Wrapped pieces of my artwork will be hanging at the Robert C. Byrd Federal Courthouse in Charleston West Virginia from July thru August.

The show is open to the public, keeping in mind it is a federal courthouse, so you will have to pass thru a security checkpoint to gain access thru the main doors.

If you can, I’d love for you to go and take a look- better yet, visit my online store and pick up some art for your home or office!

What is a gallery wrapped canvas?

It is a high quality print on artist canvas.
The canvas is stretched over custom made wood supports.
Its depth is 1.5″

What’s so cool about gallery-wrapped canvases?

These images stand out boldly without the distraction of a frame
They appear to “float” on your wall.
You don’t need a frame for stability; the structure is inside the art.

More from the weekend…

Carnifax Wood2

Spooky huh? Light was fading fast and this is at the edge of an overlook with a path going down to the river below….

I’m sure there aren’t any wolves or vampires  about…but why take the chance, right?

Passion, Desire, and the photoshoot…

Models Stephen Mathews and Lindsey Maddox

I’ve been a little busy with shooting and editing the last few days- Here’s one of the finished photos from a modeling shoot this past weekend . ( I’ll be posting a few more in the days to come…)
I had my wonderful assistant Tina hold a diffused flash off to camera left , and then remotely triggered it with pocket wizards.

Stephen and Lindsey were a great to work with- they are friends; but not a couple- and the fact that they were really attractive didn’t hurt the photograph either…..

Pulled this one from the archive: It’s called a “Warthog”- prepping for takeoff on the flight line.

Sometimes what I get to do is pretty awsome……..

Clock tower-WV State College

wv-state-college1
I shot a wedding this past weekend at WV State College- not only was it a sweet wedding; I came across this!
For each wedding I shoot, I like to get a shot of something around the venue that will capture some “flavor” of the place. Something that means something to the couple.
But there’s more to this story……
One of the things I teach at my workshops is “Don’t forget to take a look at your front yard” meaning- look for the hidden in what’s familiar.
This was brought home to me in this one shot- I had never been to the WV State College campus before- even tho it’s within 20 minutes of my house. I’ve been to Marshall, WVU, Alderson Braddus, WV Tech, U of C,  etc….but never here – and I have to tell you- there was so much to see, the history of the place, the grounds; I really fell in love with the place! I’d love to do a feature there sometime!
ANYWAY- don’t forget to look at the places around where YOU live for inspiration.   I’m just sayin….
